Level 2 Baptiste Power Vinyasa

This class is taught by:

Lara Ederer

RYT 200

Lara was introduced to yoga in 2002 by a newly certified friend who needed practice students. Over the next several years she ventured in and out of the practice as well as different styles until she found her "home" in Vinyasa and Ashtanga traditions. In 2012 she completed her 200 Hour with Be Luminous with a primary focus in Power Vinyasa. Her teaching style is playful and sprinkled with humor yet it is evident that she is influenced by deep rooted traditions such as chanting, Pranayama, and Sanskrit.

Lara is also a co-founder of Yogalab Northwest, a grass roots collaboration that hosts world class teachers in the Seattle area as a way to celebrate the strong local yoga community. She has had the privilege of hosting and learning from Sri Dharma Mittra, AmyIppoliti, Tiffany Cruickshank, Kino Macgregor, Jason Crandell, and has several more scheduled events on the horizon.

Craig Baldwin

RYT 200

Craig first started practicing yoga over 35 years ago. With a physical job working in construction and playing different team sports for recreation, he never made the time to develop a consistent yoga practice. About 14 years ago after having to stop playing the sports he loves mainly due to lingering injuries he came back home to yoga. At some point while practicing 2-3 times a week in different studios for a decade or so, Craig’s practice felt stagnant. To deepen his understanding of the history and philosophy of Yoga, he took teacher training at Be Luminous Yoga. While his intention of taking the training was not to teach, somewhere along the way he became inspired to teach. Teaching Yoga is another evolution in his spiritual growth.

Craig brings his life experience, humor, playfulness, LOVE of Yoga and music to each class! When Craig is not in a yoga studio he is doing some sort of construction project, walking his dog, listening to and playing blues, jazz, and kirtan music, enjoying the salt air of Puget Sound on Camano Island, and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife of 23 years, Nan. Craig looks forward to seeing you on the mat!

Susan Hawkins

RTY 200

Susan wandered into a yoga class while in college in the late 1980’s and still remembers the instructor's soothing and loving voice guiding students to relax in savasana. She was moved deeply in that first class so many years ago. Throughout the years since then, Susan tried several different styles of yoga. In 2006, she found her home and passion at Shakti and in Baptiste Yoga. This powerful, physical, sweaty practice grounded her, empowered her and gave her freedom on the mat and in her life. In 2015, after years of regular practice at Shakti, Susan took the leap and attended Level One training with Baron Baptiste. Heart cracked open and body and mind expanded, she went on to complete the Teacher Assisting Program (TAP) with Lisa Black, a 200 Hour RYT training at Be Luminous Yoga, and Baptiste Level Two training. In 2017, Susan was mentored by Jo Parsons and Nicole Tsong in the Shakti Teacher Mentorship Program (TMP).

It is both a joy and an honor for Susan to be teaching at the studio where she has spent so many hours on her mat as a student. She has found yoga to be truly transformational as it has allowed her to live more authentically, with greater purpose and with connection to not only herself but to her community and to the world. Susan’s classes balance strength with softness, allowing students to connect to breath, body and the present moment. Yoga embodies more than asana, the physical poses, and in Susan’s classes you will connect with your higher self and awaken to the peace, power and possibility that already exist within you.

Nicole Tsong

Nicole remembers the first time a friend convinced her to attend a yoga class and then watched, speechless, as her friend flew into crow. She was in. She first came to SHAKTI in 2005, drawn in by the heat, the powerful flow and the hands-on teaching style of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Yoga calmed her mind and opened her body. A weekend teacher training with SHAKTI owners Lisa Black and Peter Avolio sparked an interest in teaching, and in 2009, she attended Baron Baptiste's Teacher Training Bootcamp Level 1. She emerged transformed and inspired by the possibilities for teaching and life. She also is a graduate of SHAKTI's Teacher Mentorship Program, and in 2010, completed Baptiste Level 2 teacher training, which took her teaching to another level of power and transformation. She also has trained with master teacher Shiva Rea and practiced with Rusty Wells, Bryan Kest and Ana Forrest. A Certified Baptiste Instructor, Nicole believes a teacher's role is to empower students in their practice and their lives, provide a safe, loving space to grow physically and mentally and to build community. She brings power, authenticity, levity and love to her classes, and she aspires to help her students find presence, joy and freedom through the flow.

Renee Ryan

Being a lifelong athlete, Renee loves to run, mountain bike, hike and ski. She came to find herself on a yoga mat to prevent injury, but soon realized yoga empowered her with a mental awareness and clarity that she had never experienced before. She felt the need to bring this mind body transformative experience to others, so after practicing yoga for over ten years, became a yoga teacher.

Renee is E-RYT 200 registered with Yoga Alliance, and is currently earning her RYT 500 at Eight Limbs Yoga Centers Seattle. Renee has traveled extensively to workshops with her favorite teachers Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker, Dharma Mittra and Baron Baptiste who inspire her daily, on and off her mat. Anna is an energetic teacher who will bring possibility to your practice. She values connection and believes in the power of coming together, in support of each, to practice yoga. Her path to yoga began with an injury, and through continued physical, spiritual and intellectual dedication, Anna’s personal practice evolved into a call to help others. She believes in yoga as an open door, an invitation to experience physical growth but also love, self-awareness, compassion, and even enlightenment.

Anna has completed Level 1 and Level 2 Baptiste training and has continued her training with Bryan Kest, Lisa Black, Jason Crandell and Seane Corn. She has over 40 hours of Teacher Assisting training and is invested in helping students experience yoga with a sense of freedom and exploration. Ashish Arora

RYT 200

Ashish grew up in Delhi, India where he briefly practiced yoga in Elementary school and learned Sanskrit in Middle and High school. He did not practice yoga again till he went to a yoga class in January 2015 in his office gym at Nintendo. That's when he realized the possibilities yoga opened up for him, both physically and mentally. The same year he completed his 200-hour Teacher Training at Shakti Vinyasa Yoga, following it up with a 4 month mentoring program. He has also completed Level 1 training with Baron Baptiste and weekend intensives with Anna Forrest (Forrest Yoga) and Kino Macgregor (Ashtanga). After spending 16 years of working as an engineer in the Computer and video game industry, he is currently taking a sabbatical and spending his time practicing/teaching yoga and to travel. He loves to practice different styles of yoga, taking about 12 classes/week across Seattle. In the last year, he has practiced yoga in a few places across the world - Delhi, Bali, Rome, Edinburgh, New York, LA, Boston, Miami, DC and more.

He likes to practice with a smile and tries to bring his fun personality to his teaching. At the same time, you should come in expecting to push your edge. He would like you to be open to the possibilities which open up on and off your mat when you push that edge. A strong example from his personal life being how yoga helped him get over his fear of water by getting him in control of his breath, which then let him explore scuba diving.

He strongly believes that happiness cannot be achieved by just tying it to big goals, but it comes from finding something in the current moment to be happy about and to smile about it. Those moments then go on to make your entire life.

Tina Templeman

Tina Templeman has been a serious student of yoga since 1999 when a severe injury brought her to the brink of back surgery. Since yoga was such a large part of her back rehabilitiation, in 2007 she made the decision to become a yoga instructor herself. Early on in her yogic journey she has trained in the 5 Tibetan Rites and deep meditations of OSHO’s Dynamic & Kundalini meditations. But is was the love and joy of self-discovery within the strength, flow and philosophy of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga that made her decision to become 200 hour RYT Certified Baptiste Yoga instructor having completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 Baron Baptiste’s Teacher Trainings. Tina has also trained with Yoga Master Teachers Ana Forrest and has completed 2 modules of Shiva Rea’s teacher trainings. By using creative sequencing as well as the spiritual focus that Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga offers, Tina’s technique challenges the yoga practitioner to stretch both mentally and physically, on and off the mat.

Tina is licensed massage therapist and has her own massage practice. She brings massage related muscle awareness to her yoga classes and consciousness of body movement to empower students to be successful at any level. This expertise coupled with 20 years of ballet, dance and an extensive background in fitness and personal training make Tina's classes challenging, fun, and energetic for every level of student.

Anne Gordon

RYT 200

Anne fell in love with yoga in Costa Rica. After years of swimming, weight lifting, and marathon running, she decided to try yoga as a way to not only stretch and strengthen her muscles, but also to rehabilitate overstretched hamstrings. What she didn't expect was the joy and radiance that she experienced, and a deep and authentic connection to self through the artistry of her yoga practice, that she likes to call “the yoga glow.”

When Anne and her family made the move from Costa Rica to Seattle in 2010, Anne knew that she wanted to share her love of yoga by becoming a certified yoga instructor. She attended a 100 hour Power yoga teacher training with Amazing Yoga in October 2011 in Tulum, Mexico. Returning from her trip, she immediately enrolled in a 200 hour Power yoga teacher certification program with Be Luminous in Seattle.

She continues to grow as a teacher and a student by attending various workshops with Brian Kest, Liz Doyle and others. She most recently completed a Teacher Assisting Program with Lisa Black. In addition to Power Yoga, Anne has practiced Anusara, Ashtanga, and Yoga Nidra.

She takes a “Pura Vida” approach to her teaching, encouraging students to surf their edge in a safe and supportive environment, while staying true to their bodies, minds and spirits. In Anne’s classes students can expect to leave feeling energized, yet calm, having gained access to a deep sense of wellbeing and vitality.

Level 2: Basic Level where modifications for the postures offered. These classes flow through the complete, traditional Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga sequence of 53 postures and 11 series. Geared towards students who have some experience in Power Vinyasa yoga and is rewarding for experienced students as well.
